The Southold Fire District provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the hamlet of Southold in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York.
The Southold Fire District is a special taxing district organized under New York State Town Law. The district is governed by a Board of Fire Commissioners, elected by district residents, who oversee the operation and financing of the fire department.
The Southold Fire Department, which serves the district, is a volunteer organization that has been protecting the community since 1886. Our volunteers respond to fire, rescue, and emergency medical calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The district encompasses the hamlet of Southold and surrounding areas on the North Fork of Long Island. Our territory includes residential neighborhoods, farmland, vineyards, commercial areas, and waterfront properties.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is responsible for the financial and administrative oversight of the fire district. Commissioners are elected by district residents and serve five-year terms. Elections are held annually in December.
